Kith + Kin (formerly GK Gallery)
About This Spot
Stepping into Kith + Kin on Chapel Street feels like entering a small, warm embrace in the middle of Salford’s vibrant flow. It’s the kind of place where time seems to slow down just enough for moments to settle — the mingling scents of freshly baked goods and rich coffee gently inviting you to linger a little longer. The space is modest but thoughtfully arranged, airy without losing that intimate, homely feel that makes it a natural meeting spot for locals and visitors alike.
Here, the pace is unhurried and genuine. The mood carries a quiet joy, fostered not only by the unmistakable aroma of baking but by the easy warmth of connection found between staff and guests. It’s this human touch — the friendly chatter over the counter, the knowing smile from behind the espresso machine — that turns a simple coffee break into a shared pause of community.
Food and drink are presented with care and intention, each sip or bite reflecting a quiet celebration of comfort and craftsmanship. Whether it’s a steaming chai latte or a well-pulled flat white, moments are enhanced by the little surprises of seasonal loaf slices, soft scones, or the ever-changing wonder of vegan and gluten-free options. These treats don’t scream for attention but rather nudge you toward a slow enjoyment, revealing layers of fresh flavors that feel thoughtfully balanced and thoroughly satisfying.
Despite its unassuming size, Kith + Kin carries a depth of warmth and welcome that ripples beyond just good coffee or lovely food. It’s a place where local stories surface naturally, where a newcomer might leave with a handful of recommendations and a new sense of place. The friendly atmosphere and genuine kindness create a subtle rhythm that feels familiar, like catching up with a neighbor or sharing a quiet moment with a friend.

Literally my favourite cafe in the whole of Manchester. Words cannot describe the joy I feel when I come in and see what the owner has baked today. She is the loveliest woman ever, so chatty and has an incredible talent for baking. (And there is so much variety in the gluten free and vegan options available)

Five stars all round. It is a family-run, local business that has amazing customer service, delicious drinks and plenty of vegan food to choose from. They're priced so reasonably, especially when you consider the big chains are around the same price, but offer far less in terms of quality. I had a mocha with coconut milk and a vegan chocolate and vanilla cupcake and both were delightful. The ambience is absolutely beautiful as well—very peaceful and calming with gorgeous decor. I absolutely recommend a visit here.

Very friendly atmosphere. We met someone local and he welcomed us to Manchester and gave us tips, a bit of local history, and good convo. The service was great and food was amazing. It's small but was still airy and comfortable

What a lovely little cafe! Staff is super friendly, everything is really fresh and the vibe is just so homely and kind. I couldn’t find prices for most things in the cafe on the homepage or on Instagram, so I tried my best to take pictures of the ‘menu’, but I suppose the reason why there’s no actual menu online is because the selections are constantly changing? Either way, amazing place!

Since I’ve been in the area I have tried out numerous coffee shops. I would highly recommend this one. Yes in terms of food options it’s more limited compared with others in the area, but in my opinion coffee shops over complicate themselves often nowadays. The food here tasted fresh and fragrant and was honestly the best I’ve had in the area along with the coffee. The service here is lovely and warm giving a homely feel and the environment is calm. I will definitely be back and recommend that others give it a try!

We were lucky enough to have afternoon tea here on August Bank Holiday Monday, and what a treat! The selection was fantastic and it all tasted amazing! My partner is vegetarian and there was a great selection for him as well as gluten free. This has to be the best afternoon tea in Manchester! I have tried Harvey Nichols, the Hilton and Richmond Tea Rooms but you can't beat the atmosphere and beautiful staff for a wonderful experience. I will definitely be coming back for a coffee and cake (which are all made on site!) to sit and watch the world go by.
